Restoration: A New Life

Our restoration and conservation techniques are faithful and appropriate to the piece at hand and whenever necessary, historical and technical research is carried out to ensure the value of the piece is maintained.
Our philosophy is to take the minimalist approach and to conserve rather than restore, retaining marks and impressions that tell the life story of the piece and thus retaining the value and charm that generations of history have bestowed.
Where timber needs to be replaced, aged timber is used in these repairs wherever possible. Traditional construction and finishing processes are employed to ensure authenticity is maintained.
